A New Chapter, Same Mission đź’«

Company Announcement
🤎 I’m Starting a New Chapter
Hi friends,
I’ve been gone for a few weeks, and I wanted to provide an explanation. I’m very excited to share that I’m heading to business school! I’ll be starting my MBA program next month at Emory Goizueta Business School.
Ed. Opal will be entering a new season of growth, reflection, and possibility. Not only have I been accepted to Goizueta Business School, but I’ve also been offered a fellowship through Goizueta’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. I’m also eligible to apply for accelerators through The Hatchery, a multi-disciplinary entrepreneurial lab pumping out some of the Southeast’s biggest up-and-coming startups.
As I enter this new chapter, I feel incredibly grateful for the support Ed. Opal will have through my MBA and fellowship programming. The mission - to deliver culturally relevant personal finance education to Black women - is as strong as ever. With the resources now available to me, I’m excited for the opportunity to scale that mission for greater impact. As you may imagine, this will be a big shift for me personally and for Ed. Opal, so I wanted to let you know what you can expect.
📬 The bi-weekly newsletter is pausing. You won’t be seeing emails from me every other week like before. I may bring in a few guest writers from time to time, but they’ll arrive without a set schedule. If and when they do, know they’re chosen with care and intention.
📒 The guided workbook is on pause. While the career and money workbook we've been working on is still very close to my heart, it's also going on hold during this next chapter. I want to give it the attention it deserves, and that means pausing for now so I can return to it with fresh insight and intention. My goal is to launch something bigger and better, but still with the loving and intentional content I’ve been creating for you all over the last few months.
💼 Ed. Opal is still growing. Everyday, more of you sign up for the Ed. Opal newsletter. This lets me know that there’s still an appetite for what Ed. Opal provides. I’ll be continuing my work on Ed. Opal as a fellow through Emory’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and The Hatchery. These programs will help me strengthen my skills as a founder, refine our offerings, and sharpen the vision for how Ed. Opal can serve you even better in the future.
🙏🏾 Most importantly, thank you. Ed. Opal began as my love letter to Black women like us - navigating wealth, career, and identity with power and purpose. Over the last year, nearly 1,000 of you have joined me on this journey. Your support, emails, DMs, and encouragement have meant more than you know. I can not thank you all enough for how you’ve supported Ed. Opal over the past year. I hope to bring EO back to you, bigger, better, and ready to make a more sustainable, positive impact.
This isn’t goodbye. It’s simply a pause and a regroup. When Ed. Opal returns, it’ll be bolder, clearer, and even more committed to building financial confidence and freedom for women like us.
Thank you for being here. Don’t hesitate to continue reaching out by responding to this email if you need anything.
With love and gratitude,
Khayla
